Swim School FAQ

Swim Lesson FAQs

Everything you need to know about Superfish Swim School lessons, levels, and booking in Boardman, OH.

Getting Started

Who can take Superfish swim lessons?

Superfish teaches swimmers from 6 months old through adults, from first-time beginners to advanced swimmers. Classes are grouped by age and skill, with small student-to-teacher ratios and instructors trained in developmentally appropriate, trauma-free approaches.

Where are lessons held, and is the pool warm?

Lessons are taught in the 90-degree therapy pool at Anchor Wellness Studio, 725 Boardman-Canfield Rd, Ste B, Youngstown (Boardman), OH 44512. The warm water helps swimmers stay comfortable and relaxed.

What should my child bring to a lesson?

Bring a swimsuit, a towel, and goggles (optional). Superfish suggests having your child wear their swimsuit to the pool and packing underwear for the trip home.

How do I know which level is right?

Every swimmer's first class includes a skill review and swim assessment, and we will contact you if a level needs adjusting. Not sure where to start? Call 330-953-0019 and we will help you choose.

Classes & Levels

What swim levels does Superfish offer?

Superfish offers child and caregiver classes (Babyfish Levels 1 to 3, for ages 6 months through preschool), learn-to-swim classes (Bluefish Level 4 for beginners age 4 and up, then Sailfish Level 5 and Swordfish Level 6 for ages 5 and up), and classes for competent swimmers age 6 and up (Shark/Swim Team Prep and Swim Fit and Fun). Adaptive private lessons are also available, and the classes for competent swimmers are inclusion-friendly.

How do group swim classes work?

Group classes run on a recurring monthly membership of four 30-minute classes, at the same day and time each week. A missed class earns a make-up token that families schedule in Captyn. Memberships renew monthly until canceled with 30 days written notice.

Does Superfish offer private lessons?

Yes. Private and semi-private lessons are 30 minutes and move at your swimmer's pace. Book them through Captyn, or call 330-953-0019 for help choosing.

Does Superfish offer adaptive swim lessons?

Yes. Superfish offers adaptive swim lessons as private lessons, and the classes for competent swimmers are inclusion-friendly. Every Superfish instructor who teaches adaptive swim lessons is a certified Swim Whisperer through Swim Angelfish, trained to support swimmers with autism, anxiety, and motor, physical, or sensory challenges.
